I would ask what your favorite classic games are, but the meaning of classic can be debated. Anyway, what are your favorites from games that came out before 2003? |

I know the Nintendo 64 has aged a lot and its almost 15 years old (!), but it just never seemed to be old to me. I associate the word "older" with anything during or before the 16 bit era because that's what I grew up with. My favorite classics from the 16 bit era are: Sonic 1 Sonic 2 Sonic 3 & Knuckles Sonic CD Bernstein Bears Camping Adventure Streets of Rage Streets of Rage 3 Aladdin (GEN) The Lion King Shining Force Phantasy Star II Golden Axe Super Mario World Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Super Mario All-Stars Star Fox Final Fantasy II Final Fantasy III 8-bit: Super Mario Bros. 1 Super Mario Bros. 3 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (**** the haters) Castlevania Chip'N Dale Rescue Rangers Final Fantasy 3j Punch-Out R.C. Pro AM (first video game I ever played ) Super Mario Land Super Mario Land 2 Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal Donkey Kong GB Anything before NES is too old for me. Obviously, I was never into Super Nintendo like I was Genesis. |

khoufu wrote: -Mario Party 3 (sentimentality; my favorite game at a nearby McDonald's) YES. I played that all the time whenever i was at a mcdonalds as a little kid. i don't think they even have those little game things there anymore. at my mcdonalds its a break room for employees. WTF. Also pretty much anything on the N64. its what i grew up with, and i still have one and play it. i've probably beaten Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 58329874 times, and its still fun. same with kirby and the crystal shards and donkey kong 64 |

By older I will assume that you mean before the PS2 came out...which means that the following are my favorite older video games; NES Super Mario Bros. (the second 1 not released only on Wii Shop Channel is just not beatable, go ahead, try to beat to see what I mean) Punch Out!! (only played the 1 from the Wii Shop Channel) SNES Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World (still have the game cartridge in my room somewhere) Super Punch Out!! (the only boxing game I ever enjoyed playing along with the original) Donkey Kong Country I & II (never got to play 3) Fighter's History (I bet no one even knows about this gem) F-Zero (not the second 1) Megaman X (only the first 1) Contra III (I actually enjoyed this shooter which is rare seeing as I am not a fan of shooting games in general) Breath of Fire II (most likely my favorite SNES game I ever played among my favorite other things) SEGA Genesis Sonic the Hedgehog - ALL (1st 1 was the worse to me & the 3rd 1 & the "& Knuckles" edition of it was my absolute favorite SEGA Genesis game) Golden Axe I & II (mainly the second 1 as I played that 1 first & by chance the 1st one) Streets of RAGE I & III (the second 1 was zoomed in & that imo was terrible on top of it being just simply unbeatable by me as oppose to I & III) Gameboy Pokemon Blue (ah, the memories) Pokemon Yellow (better then Pokemon Crystal in terms of original content) Frogger (the cartridge actually got a knife hole in it & still worked, just that I don't know where it is anymore) Gameboy Color Pokemon Gold (because I like gold better then silver huh?) Pokemon Crystal (adding a selectable heroine was revolutionary for this game & it's franchise) Gameboy Advance Pokemon Sapphire (If it wasn't for how Dive was introduced into this game then this would be my favorite Pokemon game so far, period) Pokemon Leafgreen (even though I didn't like this game compared to Pokemon Blue, I still am glad I got this game for multiple reasons) MegamanZero II, III & IV (I really want MegamanZero Collection so so much & not just to play the 1st game but also cause this series is amazing) Super Mario Advance 4 : SMB3 (I wish that the DS & Wii Super Mario Bros. games had this much forms for Mario to go into) PS Final Fantasy VIII (please tell me I'm not the only 1 who really really liked this game, sadly I have yet to actually complete this game by soon) Bloody RAGE II (I really like this game but due to it's now blocky graphics & limited gameplay appeal...today that is, I no longer play it) Grandia (though I only played it briefly I actually liked it & for good reason too) Valkyrie Profile (1 of the most unique battle engines I have ever seen to date...still) Dreamcast Gauntlet Legends (This was my favorite game to play with other human players before the PS2 was introduced, really wish I'd have beat it though) Rival Schools II (or Project Justice was a really great & fun fighting game for me, truly one of Dreamcast's better gems) Grandia 2 (I like this game way better then any RPG game I have played, even FFVIII as it isn't as OMG annoying at times during some senarios) Marvel VS Capcom I & II (I liked the 1st one better & yes the 2nd 1 had better mechanics but the characters in comparison were too unbalanced) That's it for me... |

to me older in video game terms means about a decade old or a little more old than that 4 classics Super mario RPG Legend of the 7 stars, Starter RPG But a great game with a wonderful plot. Sonic the hedgehog 2 I like to go back and try speed runs nowadays but it is a wonderful platformer and what got me started with video games. Having replayed Silver gold I like it a lot red blue does not have the replay value that silver gold does in my opinion. and number 4 Kirby 64 and the crystal shards got me hooked on kirby. FF9 and FF10 were of my liking also were very intense games and fun to play despite being long RPG's. |

hm...favourite old games ok.. Super Nintendo (inherited from my big sister) - heh first system I had I had this game called the secret of mana it was sort of like a final fantasy game only like way way WAY more epic. I wish they'd remake it for the DS like they've been doing with most other games. PS1 - Final Fantasy 7 & 8 it's kind of a toss up as I really liked both games. Dreamcast - Soul Calibur Gameboy Colour : Pokemon Crystal Version (silver version before that) my best friend and I were so into pokemon that we saved 3 weeks allowance and talked my big sister to buy us the Japanese version of gold and silver because they came out like a year before they were released in the states. we even got japanese/english dictionaries so we could understand what the npc's were saying. not a lot translates 'cuz yeah , the names in particular but we can both read some japanese now, even though it's been so long that we can sound stuff out but no longer know what any of it means. We should of taken a class or something, oh well. |
