Can anyone give me a full definition of the word backseat moding. I can't relly understand the term and as far as I know I believe I've been doing some. Oh can someone also post examples (fiction of course) of backseat moding, so y'know I can understand it better.

Doing a moderators job.
Examples of backseat modding are, but not limited to :
1.) Noting a double post
2.) Noting necromancy
3.) Noting a huge sig in public
4.) Noting SPAM
5.) Noting a misplaced thread (A Rate My Team thread, in the presence of an official rating thread)
6.) General enforcement of forum rules.
Punishments range from public humiliation by a mod to even a ban (if done often enough)

Everyone does.
And some people find it impossible to resist telling someone off for making an all smiley post.

Personally, I think it's okay if you include a short sentence in your post to remind the poster above you above a rule he/she has broken, then go on to post your own stuff which is relevant to the topic. Merely posting with the sole intention of telling off another user with no contribution to the topic at hand, however, is backseat moderating.
