A satisfactory guide for anyone new to competitive battling. Easy to read and understandable. A lot of in-depth crucial points have been missed out:

It's a good guide, indeed. But, there is another tactic called "Perish-Passing". It's not common, but it's a really good. An example:

{umbreon} @ BrightPowder
-Mean Look
-BPass
-Double Team
-Wish

Umbreon uses Mean Look first, then Double Team. After that, uses Wish and BPasses to Altaria.

{altaria} @ Lefties
-Perish Song
-Safeguard
-Protect
-Subsitute

Altaria creates a sub, uses Safeguard and then uses PSong. Due to Mean Look/BPass combo opponent can't switch. Wish restores Altaria's health and Altaria uses anything except Protect to skip her/him turn. When Altaria's PS count falls to 1, Altaria uses Protect and defends him/herself.

Unless the Defending PKMN uses Detect or Protect, it's a guaranteed KO. With full EVs in Defense and SD, and the help of Lefties, the Sub and BPassed DTeam, this tactic can take out up to 3 Pokes.

Gnaaye, when you say to use Protect when the Perish Song count falls to 1, do you mean to say that you use it on the turn that the pokes faint, and that will prevent Perish Song from fainting them? Or do you mean to use it the turn before it faints? I don't really understand where you are getting this. Sorry.

No matter  I said use Protect when your PCount falls to 1, after your opponent's turn. Protect negates PS's effect and your opponent faints but your Altaria stays alive. If you don't believe me, try on NetBattle.

P.S.: Protect prevents you from all effects of attacks including Memento, Explosion, PSong and Selfdestruct.

EDIT: You didn't add SubPunchers, sn0w.
EDIT: Never mind, I saw it.

Actually, there are 22 in the guide.

Oh god there are so many things wrong with this. ;(

{salamence} @ Shell Bell
Adamant | Intimidate
252 Atk 252 Spd 6 HP
~Dragon Dance
~Aerial Ace
~Steel Wing
~Earthquake/Double-Edge

Steel Wing is NO. It's super-effective against Ice and Rock, NVE against Steel, Fire, and Water. Rock Slide is much better because it covers Ice, Flying, Bug, and Rock. You should try HP Flying over AA if you can. Double-Edge has no STAB and there is recoil. Earthquake is a better choice to hit Rock and Steel. DDMence only needs 264 speed to outspeed base 130 (Aero, Jolt) after a DD. The rest should go in HP.

{aerodactyl} @ Choice Band
Adamant/Jolly | Rock Head
252 Atk 252 Spd 6 HP
~Earthquake
~Aerial Ace
~Steel Wing
~Rock Slide

What did I say about Steel Wing. ;/ Rock Slide and EQ cover everything it does, and are more powerful. HP Fly over AA if possible, Double-Edge over Steel Wing because Rock Head negates recoil, and DE is more powerful than any of its other attacks if it is not resisted.

{milotic} @ Leftovers
Modest | Marvel Scale
252 SA, 252 Spd, 6 HP
~Surf
~Ice Beam
~Dragonbreath
~Rest/Recover/Attract

Why would you use Milotic as a special sweeper when it has such good walling capabilities? Max HP/Def Bold, and Surf/Recover/Toxic/Ice Beam/Hypnosis/Rest are all good moves.

>Commonly used non-damaging moves: Thunder Wave, Sweet Kiss, Attract, Double Team, Confuse Ray, Glare

Double Team is gay and should be avoided.

{raichu} @ Lefties
Modest | Static
252 HP, 129 Def, 129 SD
~Thunder Wave
~Thunderbolt
~Sweet Kiss
~Attract

Needs Encore and Substitute as options. More speed, Raichu isn't surviving anything anyways.

{skarmory} @ Lefties
Careful | Keen Eye
252 HP, 129 Def, 129 SD
~Toxic
~Roar
~Spikes
~Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/Drill Peck

{blissey}: Heal Bell to heal things with Soundproof. Thunder Wave and Toxic are options. Bliss needs max HP/Def and Bold nature.

{suicune} @ Lefties
Modest | Pressure
252 SA, 129 Spd, 129 HP
~Calm Mind
~Surf
~Ice Beam
~Mirror Coat

Suicune is not a special wall. More physcial, even with Calm Mind.

{claydol} @ Lefties
Careful | Levitate
252 SD, 252 Def, 6 HP
~Cosmic Power
~Rest
~Toxic
~Explosion/Double Team/Sandstorm

Cosmic Power is bad because when you use it Skarmory comes in and WW/Roars you. And you can't do anything to it. Rapid Spin instead.

{shuckle} @ Lefties
Impish | Sturdy
252 HP, 129 Def, 129 SD
~Wrap
~Toxic
~Attract
~Rest

{arcanine} @ Lefties
Modest | Intimidate
252 SA, 252 Spd, 6 HP
~Flamethrower/Heat Wave
~Crunch
~Toxic
~Roar

Arcanine has better things to do. Like sweep.

{skarmory} @ Lefties
Careful | Keen Eye
252 HP, 129 Def, 129 SD
~Toxic
~Roar
~Spikes
~Steel Wing/Aerial Ace/Drill Peck

{blastoise} @ Leftovers
Docile | Torrent
252 Spd, 129 Atk, 129 SA
~Surf
~Ice Beam
~Earthquake
~Haze/Rapid Spin

Wtf is with Docile. Go with a -Speed nature.

{vaporeon} (M) @ Leftovers
Calm | Water Absorb
220 HP, 118 Def, 76 SAtk, 96 SDef
~Haze
~Protect / Ice Beam
~Wish
~Surf

EVs should be 252 HP/228 Def/ 28 SDef. Maybe some in SAttk.

{manectric} @ Lefties
Modest | Static
252 SA, 252 Spd, 6 HP
~Thunderbolt
~Crunch/HP Grass
~Thunder Wave
~Roar

Manectric can't survive to Roar anything. Suicune is better.

Claydol and Forry should be noted as Rapid Spinners.
Examples:

{ninjask} @ Lefties
Adamant | Spd Boost
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
~Silver Wind
~Double Team
~Swords Dance
~Baton Pass

Sub over DT. Item should be Salac/Liechi/Petaya.

Zapdos, Umbreon should be noted as BPassers.

{claydol} @ Leftovers
Bold/Impish | Levitate
252 HP, 129 Def, 129 Sp Def
~Reflect
~Light Screen
~Rapid Spin
~Earthquake/Psychic

{girafarig} @ Leftovers
Serious | Inner Focus/Early Bird
~Reflect
~Light Screen
~Wish
~Psychic

Light Screen Milotic/Forry deserves a mention.

{blissey} @ Lefties
Calm | Natural Cure
252 HP, 129 Def, 129 SD
~Heal Bell/Aromatherapy
~Counter or TWave
~Softboiled
~Seismic Toss

Miltank should be a beller.

{hitmonlee} @ Salac
Adamant | Limber
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
~Substitute or Endure
~Reversal
~HP Ghost
~Brick Break

Lee only needs 264 speed to outspeed everything after the Salac.

{heracross} @ Salac
Adamant | Swarm
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
~Endure/Substitute
~Reversal
~Swords Dance
~Brick Break/Megahorn/Earthquake

{raichu} @ Leftovers
Mild | Static
252 Spd, 154 Sp Atk, 104 Atk
~Substitute
~Focus Punch
~Thunderbolt
~Surf/Wish/Encore/Thunder Wave

{muk} @ Leftovers
Adamant | Sticky Hold
252 Atk, 252 Spd, 6 HP
~Substitute
~Focus Punch
~Sludge Bomb
~Acid Armor/Explosion/Brick Break

Ampharos, Mc(Ice)Gar and Boah need to be here.

Points taken; I'll edit the sets if I can even find time to do so =/

Then again this guide was written in 2005, and I've not touched NB since 2004 or so, thus there are bound to be inconsistencies with the metagame.

4. Mixed Sweepers

Mixed Sweepers have both Physical and Special Moves. This may be because of their wide movepools, or because they learn too few moves to specialise in either one. Mixed Sweepers may also be Pokemon that have dual-types, one of which is a Physical type while the other is a Special type, in order to use STAB moves of each type. Generally, Mixed Sweepers are less effective than other Sweepers as a result of their split EVs.

>Commonly used damage-dealing moves: Refer to that for both Special and Physical Sweepers
>Commonly used non-damaging moves: Refer to that for both Special and Physical Sweepers
>Nature: Bashful, Docile, Hardy, Quirky, Serious
>Key Stats: Attack, Sp. Attack, Speed

{blastoise} @ Leftovers
Docile | Torrent
252 Spd, 129 Atk, 129 SA
~Surf
~Ice Beam
~Earthquake

{blaziken} @ Scope Lens
Docile | Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk, 252 SA, 6 Spd
~Sky Uppercut
~Blaze Kick
~Focus Energy
~Slash

Wrong. NEVER use Neutral nature. I think that for mixed sweepers need Hasty, Nayghty, Lonely, Naive, Mild or Rash. This depends on pokemon and it's weakneses/resistances. For Mixed sweeper Dragonite I would use Naughty. Dragonite dont need special defense; it dies to first STAB Ice beam. But with this it may survive non boosted Rock slide. Also Dragonites base speed is 80. You dont outspeed many pokemon with that, unless you use D-dance.

>Commonly used non-damaging moves: Thunder Wave, Sweet Kiss, Attract, Double Team, Confuse Ray, Glare
DT is banned in competitive. Cause after that the game is based on luck, not skill. So if you want to suggest illegal sets then this is good.
