I battle with a freind who is an evil sharker. He gives moves like SPORE to Electrode, stuff like that. IMO this is the worst use of the gameshark, I use my shark to replicate items (because it takes too long to withdraw a pokemon to take it's item and give it to one I want to put into battle) and occasionally to give a move of a certain type to a pokemon that also is of that same type (ex. frenzy plant to Celebi) this is my only defense against this guy who feels that its okay to give incompatible moves to pokemon. His argument is "just use a Lum berry." I hate that because it really messes up the whole game and takes away the fun and challenge of raising pokemon. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can defeat this evil Giovanni wannabe?

BTW, I'm so glad that PsyPoke lives on, I used to check the site at it's old location but one day I found that it wasn't available. This is absolutely the BEST source of Poke information that I have ever seen. Three cheers for PsyPoke!!!

My opinion? Don't battle with the loser. if the only way he can win is to shark Spore on every single pokemon he has, then find someone esle to battle. If that doesn't work, you know what they say, "Fight fire with fire".

I completely agree with you. I use Gameshark (or AR in my case) to duplicate TMs instead of going through the hassle of giving a TM to your Pokemon and cloning it through trades. But when someone gives unrealistic moves to certain Pokemon, that makes me angry. But it's not as bad as maxing out every stat or bumping your Pokemon up to level 255.

My advice? Refuse to fight with him. It's not worth it. Once everyone stops battling him, maybe, just maybe, he'll realize how much of a cheat he is.

Thanks you guys, unfortunately I don't know anyone else who raises pokemon, that is until the wireless link is made available for FR/LG. :!:

I may just shark a very special team so he knows how it feels. It's not as easy as reaching over and turning off the GC (which makes him angry) but I've already made progress by making sure that some rules are in place. This guy also fills his team with oobers, we limit it to one oober and one lvl 55 and the rest regular pokemon. Still, he beats me nearly every time. Part of my problem is that I don't switch out when I should. But I became so annoyed yesterday when I battled a Houndoom that had Recover, that's just wrong! I don't mind losing when the playing field is level, that just makes me want to raise a stronger pokemon, but if my only defense is to shark every single pokemon to rediculous extremes, it's not worth it.

Thanks again!!!

if finding other people who play Pokemon is the problem, then check out NetBattle. it's an online Pokemon battling program. it's quite fun and I encourage all members to give it a try.

They used to have a GBC emulator where you could play a Pokemon ROM and battle other people on a server, but I think they got rid of it. Too many problems perhaps.

Well, I for one know how you feel. Back in g/s/c I used to always battle with sharkers (even though they were bad at it, hahahah) and I have one thing to say. Make a team to counter his. If his electrode uses Spore, use a pokemon with Insomnia, or a Lum Berry. Simply make sets to specifically counter his. Or you could just not battle him. Or you could call him a filthy cheating rat and punch him in the gut.... only kidding about the last one...

The topic poster is right, this is the worst way of using a gameshark. The only thing you can do is wait a little while for the wireless adapter.

You could also tell him to get rid of his sharked moves on his pokes.

I have a gameshark for GBC, and all I shark are some items, Shinies (LV.5), Celebi and Moves on my LV.100s, But I don't do, like Psychic on Tyranitar, or Earthquake on Articuno.

I just shark baby moves on to them, and Surf to my Pikachus and Raichus.

(Just a note: I strongly suggest that you use the GAMESHARK on a game that doesn't have anything that you don't want to lose, I used it in my Silver game, and I have tons of glitches  .)

The only glitch I had in Sapphire was when I used the steal trainer's pokemon code on the pokemon my freind left in his secret base. What happened was that I wasn't able to progress beyond what should have been a very early level of the battle tower. I had to fight a level 90 Mighteyena in the battle tower, and since all I had in there were lvl 50s, I had to forget about the battle tower for a while. The problem seems to have cleared up after I deleted the stolen clone. I was worried for a while though.

Every time I use my shark I worry about destroying all those hours of gameplay. That's the risk one must take if they want to cheat.

Actually, it has never deleted my data yet, I just get some bad glitches were I have to restart my game, I didn't lose anything good, so i'm not too worried.

Personally, I won't battle a Sharked team. If you need to use a GameShark to beat me, I think I've already won.

When people have to shark individual pokemon into existence because they're too lazy to spend the time training and raising the pokemon (which is the point of the game anyway) then, yes... I agree, it's cheap. But when it comes to items, it annoys me because there are some items which you only get once (like the upgrade for porygon in GSC.)

My main problem is when somebody gives a move like Recover to a houndoom, Fire Blast to a Yanma, or Spore to an Electrode. I just shut my game off and crash the battle if that happens, if I'm going to lose I want to lose fairly, I certainly wouldn't want to win by cheating.

I hope that the next round of games may be programmed well enough that it will either tag pokemon that have been tampered with or doesn't even admit them into the colloseum to compete. It's like an athlete on steroids, they don't allow them to compete in the Olympics if they've taken illegal substances that enhance performance.

In Pokemon Stadium 2, it highlights the sharked moves in red, but it allows you to still use them.

Yeah, or it only allows you to shark moves that it could learn, (Like STAB move, ex: Umbreon with Crunch) moves from FRLG, and special ones, like the Pika Family with Surf.

I might do that, but so far I've been able to get my buddy to play a little fairer and I actually have gotten the better of his team sometimes. I can't understand what looks so good about cheating in a game like this when there's no real reward besides knowing that you've trained your pokemon NATURALLY and won with them. But he's definitely a TEAM ROCKET type of person, I'm determined to win without stooping to that level, guess I'll just have to really study the FAQs about EVs, IVs and all that stuff until I really understand it.

Thanks to everybody for the advice!!! :!:

I usually only shark to get Pokemon that aren't availible in my game because no one who lives near me plays Pokemon for me to trade with. I never mess with stats and I only give moves to Pokemon that they seem natural to be with or if I'm too lazy to breed them with the moves.

I have gotten this guy to battle with a little more honor thanks to a few things I realized through all of this.

I raised three level 50 pokemon with a LOT of special attention. The teamset was devised to address the specific weaknesses of his Psychic/Dark/Flying/Rock, usually all OOBR legendaries with maybe one regular pokemon, and the team had moves that were sharked on them as well.

Well, I have gone from losing every battle to actually winning (although not most of the time :( ), which proves that persistence and focus and strategy can win out against cheaters (sometimes)

I almost forgot to get to the point, my opponent has begun using more honest pokemon because I make fun of him that the only way he can win is to blatantly cheat and there's no real skill in using a shark other than to input numbers. I point out that it's worthless and I'll just give up on pokemon if we can't have battles based on being a skilled trainer. He still beats me most of the time with natural pokemon, but now I know that I can raise good pokemon to beat his team with. I just need to focus on being the best trainer I can be!

I personally hate sharks- I bought a game once (Blue) and it WOULD NOT save any data at all. I called the guy and it turned out, he used his shark to get everything!!! I got my money back though.
