Through the Wi-Fi connection, are players able to battle each other if they're on seperate generations?
I.E. If I had HeartGold, and my friend has Diamond; can we battle each other without having to have beaten the elite four already? I'm trying to organize a tournament in RL, and this is a deciding factor; if it's limited to one generation, we might not be able to have it. Thanks in advance for any help. ~Casdeth |

They should be. I can trade from my Diamond to my Soul Silver without problems.

I tried to battle Ryder the other day over Wi-Fi, he was using HeartGold and I was using Diamond, and it didn't seem to work, but I've traded over the two before.

Yes you are very much capable of battling someone using Diamond if you have Heart Gold.
