Shadowflygon really hit the ball on that one, and plus, the arguements over, it was a heated disagreement which thankfully didn't resort to flaming. Tobey and I have made peace and 777 isn't bashing me anymore, so we are over it ok?

What I posted was a little hot, meaning uneccessary, but when people other than the disputants get involved teams are created and then it goes way out of control, ten times worse than that.

I apologise for being heated like that, but not for telling others to but out.

lol... the fact is, despite what many people seem to believe, the internet is not a free place, domain names and websites and such are considered private property, so all the rights that you THINK the constitution gives you DO NOT APPLY.... the power here is with the owner of the website and with whomever that owner chooses to give mod and admin rights... for that reason it is not a violation of one's rights to restrict someone's posting rights or to ban them, because the only rights you have here are the ones given to you by those who run this forum...

[Admin edit] Not to mention, you agreed to, and are bound by, all our terms when you registered at these forums ;)[/Admin]

While I commend you for putting all kinds of time and effort into this (I know firsthand), most of your movesets are either similar or the same. You're gonna need a hardcore explanation of strategy to differentiate between the two guides.

If someone can give me an example of describing the strategy I'd get on it.

This isn't going to cut it either:
"(insert pokemon here) has a REALLY GOOD (insert stat here) and takes advantage of (insert move here) because of the said stat"

I mean that is just stating the obvious. No one is that slow in the mind. So, show an example and I'll get on it.

Well...no one has said anything so I guess your Guide is fine as is....

I don't get the whole "Hardcore Explaination of Strategy" as they are easy as sin to figure out by looking at the sets. If they asked a question about a set, you or I could answer then post that under the pokemon. So...yeah.

for one thing, you still havent fixed the issue with {swellow} 's nature, and secondly i still dont see why you think your sets are so uber-great, having looked at some of em, i have more than a few suggestions on a number of the UUs in your list (i dont care for OUs, so i didnt even bother to look at those)

Some pokemon can serve more roles than others, regardless of them being OU or not.

These sets aren't "Uber-great", they are the standard sets for competitive play. If you don't battle competitively, then you don't need the sets.

The Standard Movesets Guide is for in-game things and link battles. You can tell by the movesets and EV spreads.

This guide is for those battling in today's Metagame. Complex EV spreads give it away. If some sets look like the ones from the SMG then it is because the set was fine as it was and didn't need changing.

That is the difference. These sets are the most recent sets. The SMG is outdated for competitive play anyway and would need to revise itself to look like this guide. So as opposed to that, Tobey created this set for Competitive Play. The SMG is for in-game play.

NO one has attempted in giving an example in this hardcore explaining of strategy either so...what is Tobey supposed to do?

edit: nm, why bother, your sets are obviously the best there could possibly be, i mean afterall, they are the "standard" sets for "competitive play" ... i must be crazy to think they could be made better...

That isn't what he meant. He meant that these are THE most current sets around. The only way for them to get better is if the metagame changed dramatically in a short amount of time and new sets were needed to keep up. The only time this will happen is when the 4th generation comes along. As for now, these are the most effecient sets.

I want to make this a good guide but no one has told me what you want me to explain. Explaining the strategies is like trying to explain how to think. It is too simple to explain. Unless i'm not understanding correctly. Explaining weak points and strong points of a pokemon will only give off the impression that certain pokemon are good enough for competitive teams in whatever format while others shouldn't see the light of day. So, give me a detailed example of how to explain strategy. I'm looking at papersun and Truestar on this one.

well for one thing, there are a ton of mis-spellings, such as breloom, masquerain, and manectric (there are more...)

I'm not so much looking for spelling and grammar mistakes as I am looking for examples on explaining the strategy. When I ask, no one seems to know what they mean. So...technically the guide would then be complete save the some spelling errors.

I don't see why this thing got tossed into the wind...no one wants to do anything but mark the stuff that needs to be fixed..yet they don't explain how to fix it.

That is like me rating/fixing a team by saying "It sucks" and leaving it at that.

I see a BIG difference.

1. These Sets have been refined where the SMG's sets haven't. This guide is the "updated" version of the SMG.

2. You make of a team using SMG sets and I'll use one of my teams and we will see the difference.

Because the current Competitive Format is Ru/Sa/Fr/Lg/Em/Col. RBY and GSC have different rules and several odd glitches. Someone can make their own guide for that one...I haven't played RBY or GSC in forever.

NetBattle also has an RBY and GSC mode, which are played often; do you think that when the latest generation comes out, all the ones before it are immediately abandoned in favor of the newest battling system? I get why RS being the "current Competitive Format" would make RS moveset guides more common, but RBY and GSC shan't be discounted.

The thing about that is this: Competitive Play is Ru/Sa/FR/LG/Em/Col format. RBY and GSC are different formats of play that, to be honest, me and my brother aren't too keen on. We know some movesets but there are glitches galore in those games and we don't quite know how they all work. If someone knew the ins and outs of GSC format then they should/could by all means make a moveset guide for it.

I updated the list a bit. If you see some errors please point them out so that I can fix them!

Dragonbreath does not suck, Prophet. It's the most powerful Dragon-Type move that Kingdra can use, and I would thank you not to insult one of my favorite moves in the entire Pok
