This is a stern warning. It will only apply to a few of you.

We have received word, that some people are trying to create a Pokemon website similar to Psypoke. While we cannot stop people doing this, we will ensure that our hard work is not just stolen. To use information, images or anything else found on our website on your own website without prior consent is stealing. If you do this, the first thing we'll do is contact you asking you to remove them. Failure to do so will result is a ban from the site, forums and chats, and an email to your ISP.

We do the hard work, it's already online, why do people need it on your site when it's already on ours?

Secondly, the recent replication of our forums. There have been two instances. We've worked hard to build the forums up, and it is upsetting when people blatantly rip them off. The only thing this tells us is that people are trying to sabotage what we've made, and bribe other members to go to their forums by offering admin and moderator positions. In this instance, nobody will be banned, but if it happens again, we will have no reservations about banning the people involved.

Right. This has pushed me over the edge. A Third forum has been made, this time by Kryten2x4b. ONCE AGAIN - a TOTAL Rip off of our forums.

Here is what I mean:
IF THE PSYPOKE FORUMS DIDN'T EXIST - WOULD YOUR FORUM LOOK ANYTHING LIKE IT DOES? ARE YOUR IDEAS ALL UNIQUE AND THOUGHT UP BY YOURSELF?

Because the probability, that two forums have the same categories, with the same number of forums in each, each with the same topics is so slim, that it wouldn't happen. THREE is one week? Cease people. I'm serious. And if you don't freaking believe me:

If I say wanted a psydex pikachu I would ank an elite and take their answer good or bad and live with it? If I wanted to use a pattern from Psypoke (ie forum placement ect) Same as for images?

A further warning to others thinking about creating a forum:

This forum is highly succesful because an excellent website supports it. People visit this popular site and are naturally drawn to register on its forums.

I find it likely that some people are setting up forums because they want a 'quick fix' forum that will be swarming with people overnight, you can then take pleasure in banning people and using the powers you get by owning your own board.

Those people will fail.

Perhaps if they have dozens of people contributing to a new website and put in months of effort like the people at PsyPoke have done - you will get a sucessful forum.

I just want to say I am sorry for all the trouble I caused Amphy and all of Psypoke with my forum we have changed things around but the only thing similar to the Psypoke forums are the rank images which I am trying to change them

Actually what Tom said is completely true. With these recent forums being created, there is no motivation to join unless you know the owner of the board. These boards will fail in time.

Back on topic, I'm sure everyone can see that Amphy is very serious about this, so why don't you all stop ripping off the forums immediately. If you will not change their complete-ripoff forums, expect bad things to happen to you here. Also, don't even THINK about stealing from the main site. You might as well send the E4 PMs asking to be banned.

Many are saying that they will delete their forums and ban themselves as an apology. This isn't neccessary. As a fellow human being I can assure you, these are not the best ways to apologise. What you should do is change your forum, and apologise to everyone who helped make Psypoke great.

Banning yourselfs and deleting your forums shows immaturity, not sorrow. I say this as a fellow Psypokian, webmaster, and teenager.

I am sorry if I did something. I banned myself so I couldn't do anything wrong again. I don't want to cause trouble. It was me who setup most of the ranks and it won't happen again.

Odd...Truestar, I didn't know there was a new moderator rank known as "Frontier Brain"...I must be losing my touch with keeping up with the changes that have been made to this site...

This topic doesn't apply to me, but I thought I may as well put in my two-cents since some others seem to be doing the same thing...

It seems odd that we haven't had any problems such as these up until recently (more people equals more trouble?)...shows you how disrespectful the human race can be and how everyone likes to take credit for something which they did not achieve themselves...

Why people create forums when there are already ones to be used...this makes me wonder - I myself am having trouble keeping up to date with all of the topics and posts even though I'm only signed up on just two forum sites - Psypoke, and The United Federation of Planets (Star Trek).

In conclusion, banning those who have copied our forums from entering Psypoke doesn't seem an effective way of dealing with them - after all, why would they still want to come here after already copying everything all of us have done (to make this site the best forum site it could be) and then placing it on their own site?

I wonder if more...exhaustive actions...should be taken?

i just don't see the whole point of having "your own" forums. i mean cmon kryten and all seriously be more mature. what you're doing is simply trying to make a forum almost identical to psypoke with similar topics and you advertise on this forum for people to join. in fact, many of your members are from psypoke. wow great, then you go and discuss the same topics WITH THE SAME PEOPLE ON A DIFFERENT URL. does that make a lot of sense to do? sorry, rhetorical question: NO.

Before any of this goes any further, please keep in mind that this is an announcement, not a discussion to point the blame at other users. Amphy has done the job of laying down the law.

What antigua said is true, don't go blaming others. And if you decide to make your own forums please please make them unique and not a rip off of any other forum site, not only will that be an insult to the creators of the original forums it will ern you a bad rep if you are a member of those forums.

Well, as you may know myself and PokemasterUSA have been making a new forum and once it's complete I'll advertise it. However in light of what's been said I'll advertise at other forums to (Serebii, Pokedream etc.)

It's not wrong to advertise here, it's just wrong to steal content, or imitate with some minor changes, the site.

Damn, these plagiarists. There are too many. One made a copy of Serebii's forums. Another made a copy of TCoD. One for Psypoke makes three. And a majority of forum copies makes over fifty. I'm not a plagiarist.

Hey, if I were requesting to ask something, like, borrow one of your staff to teach me HTML similar (like the HTML that forbids you to highlight, and use menus.), then, I can ask you for say, Amphy (the only Webmaster I know here!) speaking hypothetically, would you let me borrow him (or her)?

Well, I made a Mario forums.

But! I have a whole project in progress.

I'm creating a Super Mario fansite, that will be all about Mario games and stuff. It's going to be a real fansite created over a good amount of time, not a cheap "thrown-together-in-3-days-site". It's really gonna have nothing much to do with Pokemon stuff (unless someone makes a topic in the forums), so I don't think I will be stealing anything from this great site. 8) You see, having my Mario Mafia forums was going to come later after I had made the fansite, but I decided to make early it in my spare time. I do know that I'm really not going to get members until my fansite is done.

So, I hope this made it clear that I'm not making a "quick-overniter" forums for no reason at all. 8)
